Any Jobber got the sack…..

You never give me your money You only give me your funny paper and in the middle of negotiations you break down

I never give you my number I only give you my situation and in the middle of investigation I break down

Out of college, money spent See no future, pay no rent All the money’s gone, nowhere to go Any jobber got the sack Monday morning, turning back Yellow lorry slow, nowhere to go But oh, that magic feeling, nowhere to go Oh, that magic feeling Nowhere to go Nowhere to go

One sweet dream Pick up the bags and get in the limousine Soon we’ll be away from here Step on the gas and wipe that tear away One sweet dream came true… today Came true… today Came true… today…yes it did One two three four five six seven, All good children go to Heaven

Sometimes, When Sailors Are Sailing…

I left home at seventeen.  In those days home was a small desert town in California.  It was the kind of place that got inside of you.  The harsh sun, lonely Joshua Trees, and drifting tumbleweeds set the stage for what would eventually become the adventures of my life.  But as a child growing up in that town all I could see was the nothingness, a barren land with no hope and little opportunity.

Adventure was calling and a young kid is always looking towards the horizon.  I eventually found my way aboard the USCGC Polar Star.  It’s that little red boat in the photo above.  It is actually a 399 foot icebreaker, which was to be my home for a little over two years.  Now for a small town kid with no plan but to be anywhere but where he came from, it actually worked out quite well.  We sailed from the North Pole to Antacrtica and many places in between. Adventure had found me.

Welcome to my project

We all see the world in our own way, and that is a good thing most of the time.  The world is indeed a beautiful place, but we are in a bit of trouble these days and if we are going to find our way out it is going to take all of us.  Every idea, every effort, every drop of love we can muster.

This is where I hope to share with the world my most valuable possessions.  All my ideas, all my hope, all my love.  Where I hope we can come together in an effort to find some sort of common ground.  A haven for a new beginning, a new way of being in the world that works for all of us.

I have posted here thirteen chapters of a book I am writing.  Perhaps its just a really long thought I needed to get out in the world.  Since you made it here, please click through the chapters.  I hope you find something in them you can take with you into your world.

A good friend of mine once told me that God put us here because he needed to know what he would do if he ever found himself in our position.  I don’t know if he came up with that himself or if he was quoting someone, but I always liked it.  Let’s try to finish the task…
